Special ground plan geometry climbed with standard systems

The outer walls of this 28.50 m high reinforced concrete structure were to be erected using architectural concrete quality. In addition, extremely high wind loads had to be considered for the formwork design because of the tower´s exposed location on the French Atlantic coastline. Due to one particular architectural requirement, the horizontal concrete joints should be placed exactly 5.10 m apart. Accordingly, only five climbing steps, each 5.10 m, and one with a 3.00 m concreting height were required. The PERI climbing formwork solution therefore dispensed with project-specific special parts and, through the use of mainly rentable standard components, greatly contributed to the cost-effective construction of the concrete frame.

For forming the angular ground plan with different forms and numerous box-outs, the best solution was provided by using TRIO on the inside and TRIO Structure on the outside due to the limited space available. The curved wall sections with small, variable radii of between 1.00 m and 1.25 m could be realized with RUNDFLEX circular formwork. Element connections with BFD alignment couplers thus allowed a smooth and problem-free combination with TRIO. In order to accelerate construction progress, PERI pre-assembled complete formwork units which were then delivered directly to the construction site ready for use.

The formwork was securely mounted on CB climbing brackets and BR shaft platforms. Loads were safely transferred via the scaffold anchors into the building. When designing the climbing formwork solution, PERI engineers had to take into consideration that, apart from the construction of the reinforced concrete walls, prefabricated stairs were to be installed along with the concreting of two intermediate slabs.

    Site Manager

“Due to the know-how and the vast experience with complicated projects, we decided to use PERI systems. Our construction team could realize the challenging project requirements on schedule in spite of using the PERI systems for the fi rst time. The support we received from PERI for the assembly and during the construction made a very positive contribution in this respect.”
